ran around, had a consult, got hopped up on caffeine, and visited the best thriftstore ever where i finally found an unending supply of awesome vintage suitcases. i couldn’t choose so i bought 2, but i really could’ve bought 5 or 6. they are old school samonsites from back in the day. you know the type, hardcover with metal fasteners and probably a small trace of asbestos. also got some other cool stuff for props… exciting. again – best thriftstore ever!  i also need to go to father and son’s sometime to have a look around too. they’re a really great thriftstore in downtown raleigh and i know they’d have awesome stuff, but they’re slightly more “upscale” as they get a lot of their things from auctions and are genuinely vintage, so i like to look at cheaper thriftstores first before i spring for the expensive thriftstores, hah.

can’t wait for this trash the dress session on saturday. cross your fingers that it doesn’t rain.

finally getting around to all of the pictures of lemmy (logan lemewski) and sully (sullivan), my sister’s kittens. i took them when she first got them so that she could remember them when they got big. about a half a year later i am finally getting around to editing all of them. sorry, laura. :) typically the shooting, editing, delivery turn around time is 4-6 weeks, but it’s 4-6 months if you’re my relative. :) unfortunately in terms of editing priorities they get the short end of the stick. :(

but cute as buttons, here are some of the kitties. also, i think that my ratio of kittens to everything else i write about is really out of proportion at this point. oh well.

happy birthday laura!

today is my sister laura’s 27th birthday. happy birthday chica!! she is a speech therapist in pittsburgh, pa but i haven’t given up on her moving down to raleigh. :) because when we both lived in pittsburgh we used to do things like this!:

geoff and i like to go to a lot of haunted attractions during the halloween season and the best part was bringing laura because she would get hit on by a bunch of costumed ghouls (pictured above). he followed laura around the outside grounds for the better part of our visit. of course he didn’t say anything, how could he? but he’d stumble around awkwardly and put his arm around her. i’m not sure if he was stumbling around awkwardly because he was costumed or because he was probably a  14 year-old boy whose only method of picking up women was to dress up like a 7’5 skeleton man. either way, it was awesome. could i have picked a better picture of us for your birthday, laura? of course! but when you have gems like these lying around they must be shared with the blogging world. happy birthday!!! :)

i’m slowly getting things accomplished this week. the sand is finally out of all of my clothing and it’s all being washed. although sand really never does come out of everything, does it. it’s still always lingering in your car, clothes, places that never were anywhere near the beach, etc.

i’m looking into posting an ad in the indy, raleigh’s Independent Weekly newspaper. we’re drawing up something at the moment. right now i get all of my clients from craigslist and personal reference. it’ll be kinda cool to see what the indy does. i also made a bunch of awesome postcards to hang up places around town… kind of like a flyer, but more badass. we’ll see how that does.

i’m shooting food for the first time professionally on sunday at a german restaurant in cary. the man i’m working for is the dad of one of the boys on my website. nice to have repeat clients! i’m looking forward to working with him again and for shooting food for the restaurant. should get some good beer shots!

i need to edit the pictures i took of my sister’s cats several months ago. yes, several months. she’s my sister, so she knew it would be a while til i got around to them. :) they’re probably huge now. they were pretty tiny when i took them.

in exciting news, lots of peeps will be visiting in august. my friends and adorable couple greg and matt are coming soon and want portraits – something i’m super excited and flattered to be doing. greg does absolutely amazing photography himself and inspires me greatly. his style is unique and gorgeous! you can see some of his photos here.

this calls for a throwback:
