Callie // Bridal Portraits.

Callie and I shot these on what can only be described as a bajillion degree day of heat and humidity in central NC. I, however, was sweating much more than she was, as she seemed impervious to sweat. We also shot these inside the butterfly conservatory at the North Carolina Museum of Life and Science in Durham, which is known to add on additional layer of sweat lodge characteristics. Thankfully on this day, it happened to be cooler inside the butterfly house rather than outside, so it kept us from melting into small puddles while we were there. Callie’s hair and makeup held up beautifully and so did SHE! She’s a gorgeous, free-spirited type of lady who’s into her dog and her fiance Chris, who were married on August 11th (so now I can finally post these – yaaaay!). She also has the best biceps and triceps due to Crossfit. She told me she likes to “lift heavy things and then put them down and then lift them again.” Amen, sister. At Crossfit she also became friends with OUR amazing friend Sarah (whose wedding we shot and who designed our awesome bat logo!), so it’s a small world after all. I had an awesome time running around the Museum of Life and Science with her, her dad (who was included in the pictures because it was his birthday!), and the epic dinos. Later we hung out around Satellite Park for some more casual shots. Enjoy the post, and congrats to Callie and Chris!

It’s always a pleasure getting to know such talented individuals from all over the Triangle area who specialize in all different businesses, and working with Dr. Judy Brangman was no exception. Judy is the heart and soul behind The Plant Based MD, a resource for health and wellness that specializes in helping individuals live healthier lives. Judy’s an Internal Medicine physician who’s passionate about exercise and whole foods. We figured the perfect setting for a foods-based wellness coach would be a garden, and Judy came equipped with a basket of fruit and vegetables that I eventually made her juggle (sorry, Judy). She is full of life, and also has a fun accent as she hails from Bermuda (literally all my knowledge about Bermuda now comes from Judy, and that’s better than before when all of my knowledge stemmed from documentaries on the Bermuda Triangle). Speaking of Bermuda, though, this woman has been EVERYWHERE! She loves travel and exploring, and is definitely a fun-loving, adventurous individual. She’s also tiny (my sizeeee) so was easy to photograph without a ladder for once (yay!). It was a pleasure working with Judy and learning about her business. If you’re interested in learning more about what she does (and getting healthier in the process!), visit her site at http://www.theplantbasedmd.com or follow her on Instagram @drbrangman. Cheers!

It was a pleasure to meet and work with these guys on an elopement-style session! Jessi and Alec got married at the courthouse and celebrated with family later in the week, but they wanted photos in all their garb downtown prior to the festivities, and we were happy to oblige. They are such a sweet couple, and into all things science. They met at an observatory (I believe Alec proclaimed himself the King of the Observatory at one point, which is a truly amazing and wonderful title) and have been having outdoorsy and sciencey adventures together ever since. They also like good music and movies and can ride a rented bike downtown like nobody’s business. It’s not easy to get on one of those things wearing a significant amount of tulle or a suit, but they managed quite well. We hit up all their favorite local spots in Durham (shout out to Viceroy for being nice enough to let us take a few inside!) and got to know this awesome pair. Congratulations to Jessi+Alec!
