I caught up with this crew a few weeks ago to do a family photo session at their new home in Durham! The kids are loving it there – they have a great front and back yard and an awesome pool! The pool was closed for the season but maybe someday I’ll see it in full swing. There was a lot of fun to be had in their playroom with a bouncy trampoline gym type thingy and balance blocks, and they also have their own Pilates room since Crystal is a Pilates instructor! We also did some stomp rockets, played croquet in their yard, ate some snacks, and played Dog Bingo, which might be one of the best types of Bingo (their dog Atlas certainly thinks so). Had a great time seeing these folks again!
Krishna and Dan were one of our last weddings back in 2019 so it was wonderful to see them again!! It turns out that they live very close to us and we go to the same pool so I’m excited to have additional pool friends. I’m also excited because I turned Krishna on to the magnificent world of linen overalls and now I have successfully converted another person into a member of the Garden Witch Pants Club. Krishna and Dan are lovely humans who enjoy travel and hiking and good depressing tv shows. They have an adorable small child named Ari who is a JOY. He is very smiley and loves peekaboo books which make him giggle endlessly (and his entire body jumps up and down when he giggles, which is so fun). When you dress him up in traditional Indian clothes, he looks extremely professional and like he wants to talk to you about your retirement accounts. His favorite pastime involves smiling charmingly at Charlie, their precious terrier mutt, and Charlie’s favorite pastime is running away from Ari. Ari’s second favorite pastime involves eating watermelon in a kiddie pool, which I think is the perfect summertime activity. It’s all very cute and I’m thrilled to have been reunited with this crew!
Such a joy reuniting with some of my all-time favorite people! Geoff and I photographed Kathy and Andrew’s wedding back in the day, and then I’ve also had the joy of photographing them with Alden a couple of times. Now it’s been a few years and they have a new 2 year-old addition named Eben, who is just as delightful as Alden. Their children are adorable and sweet kids who enjoy making forts in the living room, having tea, and playing with lots of trains. The trains, for some reason, are carrying large tanks full of what appears to be full-grown great white sharks. I’m not sure if the trains are transporting these sharks to an aquarium or a rehabilitation center or if it’s a Snowpiercer situation, but regardless, I just want to let you know the type of cargo the trains in this household are transporting because it seems important.
And there, watching the trains transport the sharks and observing the tea parties and the cookie making, is Brewer the Tabby Cat. Brewer is an extremely friendly cat who has always been a part of our shoots. I think he thinks that the camera is there for him, and he acts accordingly. Their calico Addie, however, wants nothing to do with me but I love her from afar.
It was quite a gloomy and rainy morning when we shot this, but the kids made the absolute most of their day inside by doing a ton of fun things with Mom and Dad, which included making cookies, which is maybe the absolute best activity you can do when it’s raining. I had so much fun catching up with all of them and continuing to be a little part of their family story!
