It was so fun reuniting with Amber and Nick! Last time I photographed them, Amber was pregnant with Quinn, and now Quinn is an active and spunky child who really just wanted to play hide and seek instead of taking photos but who begrudgingly permitted photos anyway. She is a highly entertaining force who enjoys art, microscopes, animals, and baking. After taking a nap at school when she was younger, Quinn developed the habit of waking up at 4am, so Amber would supply Quinn with a variety of baking ingredients to occupy her. No recipe, just a bunch of different things that you could hypothetically make a cookie or a pancake with. Quinn would mix a bunch of things together to her satisfaction, and Amber and Nick then developed the tradition of actually baking whatever it was she put together and eating it (or attempting to eat it, depending on the ingredient combination I suppose). I think this is absolutely delightful. So now Quinn loves to bake. She’s still experimenting. Nick says that most of her experiments end in a crepe-like quality, so I suggested adding Nutella to the ingredient line-up, which was a stunning success according to Quinn, Amber, and Nick. Evie, the older sister, however, did not try it, which I think is potentially a safe route to take depending on experiments you’ve eaten in the past.

Evie is a total delight. She’s in high school between her freshman and sophomore year, and typically that age of people is not thought of as delightful, but Evie really is. She is kind and considerate and smart and enjoys Nirvana and the Ramones and taking Japanese. She loves her dogs and plays instruments and enjoys playing with Quinn. She’s a super good kid and I had a great time getting to know her. She has a picture of Dolly Parton holding a kitten in her room and I think that’s the best. She called Nick’s taste in music “Dad Rock” and now I realize that the term “Dad Rock” is used to describe music I listened to in high school instead of what my dad listened to in high school, and that was a startling realization on my end. Moon and Theo the Dogs also joined us – Moon is a quiet elder doggo and Theo is fluffy chaos energy and I love them both. It was so great photographing these guys all together in this moment. They are a creative and amazing family.

We are delightfully welcoming Lindsay+Ken to the CSP 5 Timer’s Club, to which there is unfortunately no sweet club jacket, but just the simple joy and satisfaction in knowing that I’ve ran around stalking you with a camera on five separate occasions. Here was their 4th occasion, when I accurately predicted that they were pregnant with what would turn out to be a really, really, ridiculously good looking child. I was right, of course, and KG is a stunner of a little-over-one-year-old. He didn’t like us at all until he realized we were there to take pictures of him, and then he turned on the charm. Big blue eyes, dark hair, and the attitude of an overworked model: smiling directly into the camera 99% of the time, demanding to see the pictures on the screen afterward to make sure he looked good, and then breaking down into tears due to hunger. He is an incredibly adorable kid, and his beauuuutiful parents are two people who are very near and dear to my heart. Dogs Mona and Lincoln, Boxer extraordinaires, were also present and adorable for this session, and also a cat! The cat was sleeping under a kitchen chair and permitted exactly four photos before she said, “I’m out” and left. It is really a cool job that we have to see our clients grow and have families and we can meet little mini versions of our clients. Welcome to the world, KG! And to the CSP 1st Timer’s Club. :)

At Home w/ Andrea+Mark.

Andrea and Mark are a great wedding couple of ours from back in 2013 and we were super thrilled to hear from them! Like, really really thrilled. Well, we heard from Mark, who bought this session for Andrea for Christmas. And attached to said e-mail was a statement proclaiming that they’d like photos of their tiny human!! And then he sent us a picture of said tiny human for proof of his a.) tinyness and b.) humanness and c.) existence. And he was SO CUTE. And we were so happy for Andrea and Mark! And we were REALLY EXCITED to shoot in the exact same house that they got ready in for their wedding, only this time the room where Andrea put on her wedding dress was converted to Albert’s room, and it felt like our work with them had come full circle. :)

And we met Albert. And we can say with 100% certainty that he realizes exactly what he’s doing in all situations. He saw us. He saw our cameras. He ran to his mom, hugged her, and smiled at us charmingly. He saw us. He saw our cameras. He ran to his dad and smiled at us charmingly. He saw us. He saw our cameras. He cried until they gave him an entire block of white cheddar which he ate by himself in the bushes. Albert is hilarious. And seriously, seriously adorable. And also, he has a taco shirt. I mean really.
