We have been photographing Kim, Ginny, and their dog Levi since 2014 and they are so special to us! They live in DC, but they either come down to us, or we go up to them depending on who is in town for what various other things. This time we had a wedding in DC so we hung out with them near one of their favorite walking trails. And this time the adorable fluff of a dog named Levi brought his new brother Finn with him! Both Levi and Finn are Coton de Tulears and that translates directly to “A Ball of the Cutest Fluff You’ve Ever Seen.”
Levi is a mature gentlemen of 12 who has triumphed over a heart condition and now continues to live comfortably following everyone around. But! His energy has surged since Finn was adopted, and now they both act like puppies, frolicking and following everyone around together. Finn is a tad more unpredictable than good old reliable Levi, but not in a bad way, just in a little, easily distracted puppy sort of way. However, he is still 98% just a ball of fluff with eyes, so he’s quite easy to wrangle. But, I’m not entirely certain he’s real. Half of the pictures I took look like someone made the cutest stuffed dog in the world designed for optimal sales to small children and just sat it in front of me. He is almost unbelievably cute.
We’re so happy this family of four continues to see us (we LOVE seeing them!) and we’re glad Finn hit the family jackpot! Love you guys!

We are so unbelievably lucky to have met these two.  Kim went to school with a photographer friend Erin May who introduced Kim to our other photographer friend Julia Wade who was unable to shoot their wedding due to prior obligations, so she recommended them to us, and thank goodness because they’re great. Amazingly great. We clicked instantly and that evolved over time to the point where Kim has become the first person to actually start crying when we left to go home the day after their wedding (then Ginny started crying because Kim was crying and we felt really bad but we still needed to get home). Now the bar is set so unbelievably high that it’s probably all downhill from here, but that’s okay, it was worth it.

Their wedding was held at the Old Angler’s Inn in Potomac, MD, just outside of Washington, DC. They made their own paper flower wedding ceremony arch (which I still can’t get over the awesomeness of)! They had gorgeous dresses! They had a bicycle-themed wedding! They had tiny little dessert pies for everyone (and gluten-free ones for me)! They climbed over rocks for photos! They had amazing and cooperative bridesmaids! And, you guys… remember Levi? That cute little dog where if you play with his ears he automatically makes a crazy and ridiculous face every time? Well, he was here… and in a bow tie… and made some crazy ridiculous faces for us again.

The amount of sheer love between Kim and Ginny is palpable, and the amount of love and support from all their friends and family is beautiful. We couldn’t be more grateful to have photographed their wedding and been witness to all of the serious love from everyone. Of course, part of the reason they’re loved so much by everyone is because they themselves love everyone, and are so kind and generous. I told Ginny that I liked their owl pillow at their house. She asked me what my favorite color is. I said blue. Then a blue owl pillow named Gladis arrived at our doorstep, along with a dinosaur partner named Stanford. This was before they saw the pictures, so hopefully they like them… because I’m not giving back those cute pillows.

Man oh man, we were lucky to find these two (or three, if you count Levi the dog, which we certainly should count). Our lovely photographer friend Julia Wade is friends with these ladies but was booked for their wedding date. She lovingly referred them to us and we are eternally grateful because they’re amazing and beautiful people inside and out… plus we obviously got to meet Levi. ;)

So third time’s a charm, right? Sometimes you come down to Raleigh from Virginia for your engagement session and it rains all weekend. Then sometimes you try to move your engagement session to Virginia but it happens to be negative seven degrees the day you try to take them. Then finally you come back down to Raleigh… again… and there’s actual sun and a not-quite-freezing day. :)

Kim (longer darker curlier hair) and Ginny (straight hair) thus finally had their engagement session with us after much patience and much weather-watching! They gratefully came in from Virginia and hung out with us for a while and we had a splendid time! They brought with them their amazing dog who has the uncanny ability to make the craziest faces ever when you take his ears and put them out at their sides like Dumbo. We promise he’s not being tortured… he just looks like it? It’s some kind of crazy Levi reflex. So we took a lot of pictures of him making crazy faces. And adorable faces. And Kim and Ginny spent some time making the most ridiculous high-pitched squealing noises we’ve ever heard trying to get him to tilt his head (a success). It was fantastic. And we cannot wait to be reunited with these two for their wedding in DC in August!
