Sanket is a real estate developer in the Durham area who specializes in the development of hotels and senior living facilities, and I’m so glad I got to work with him on this mini headshot session! He’s been in the development business for many years but is now branching off on his own and needed some new headshots for the venture. I had such a good time with him and his wife discussing the finer points of Seinfeld and our mutual love for U2. Sanket also taught me a bit about the development industry which I find fascinating. I had a great time working with him and revamping his headshots!

Rachael and Jared Bowman are the incredibly talented husband and wife photography team behind Rachael Bowman Photography, duo based in Raleigh but kicking ass everywhere. We were so excited to finally meet them in real life, and also nervousssssss (it’s hard not to be when you’re photographing someone so talented), but they are so nice and wonderfully welcoming that they put us instantly at ease (and it didn’t hurt that they had video games and Walking Dead comics). Our task was to photograph them hanging out in their house as a two-fold use for both family photos and promo pictures that they could use for their business showing their chill, laidback selves. This would, of course, involve their two fluffernutters Zoe (black lab) and Ellie (yorkie) whom we won over with an offering of cheese sticks. Later, still hungry, they did attempt to steal Rachael and Jared’s pizza, but I can’t blame them for trying. We all had a fabulous time bonding over photography related things, but also board games and all the Community paintball episodes. We also got a few new two-player video game recommendations out of the deal and have gotten them sucked into the marriage therapy/lessons in communication that is the game Overcooked. We love these guys and hope you get a feeling for their sweet life and home together. Please check out Rachael+Jared’s work! It is stunning and they’re rad people if we do say so ourselves.

Doing promotional photography for local businesses is such a fun job. Not only do we get to meet new people and discover new places, but we get to help them promote themselves which enables them to be successful. Plus, all small business owners are kindred spirits, eh? So it’s nice to be able to work for and with each other to promote everyone’s work. It especially gives me joy when promoting other female business owners in the area, so it’s with great pleasure that we introduce you to a wonderful downtown Raleigh business called The Design Gallery Salon! Heather and Lauren are the lady bosses there, and they have an incredible crew assembled with Casie (front desk multitasking genius), Terri (hair stylist who never complains), Lindsey (hair stylist with a fabulous sense of humor), and Neilie (esthetician who smiles a lot). They moved a few years ago from their previous location to a coveted spot in downtown Raleigh’s City Market where they’re quite established and have a loyal following of wonderful clients. We were brought in to take some updated pics of their crew and space, and we couldn’t have had more fun working with these wonderful women! So if you’re in the market for a trim downtown, visit http://www.designgallerysalon.com/. Also, much thanks and kudos to Erin Kelly Makeup for working with the ladies on the shoot!
