Raleigh Pet Photographer: Vince+Jackson

Vince and Jackson are city dogs. Kind of. Actually, not really. Jackson’s pretty terrified of traffic and elevators, and Vince is perfectly comfortable chewing on sticks and chasing his bro around the park. However, their parents are city people and scheduled a portrait session for their dogs before their downtown Raleigh engagement session, so we took the pups to a nearby park and let them run free (sort of)!

Vince is the Boston Terrier (a breed I’d been looking forward to photographing for such a long time!) and was everything I thought a Boston Terrier should be… a hilarious diva dog. He was very smart and insisted upon being in front of the camera at all times. I had to delete a ton of pictures of Jackson because they all had a giant Vince blur running in front of the camera like, “HEY GUYS HEY GUYS HEY GUYS!!!!” Vince enjoys pepperoni, chasing Jackson, and chewing on sticks.

Jackson is an adorable mutt who belonged to Shannon before she lived with Phil. He’s very protective of Shannon and doesn’t particularly want to like Phil, but you can tell he does anyway. He goes back and forth between trying to ignore Phil and running up to Phil like, “HI PHIL HI PHIL HI PHIL!!!!” Jackson enjoys swimming, chewing on sticks, and my husband Geoff.

Both of the pups live together now with Shannon and Phil and clearly get along splendidly. :)

Does anyone else see the resemblance to Fidget here?

I love the picture on the left. :) They’re so cute together!

Raleigh Pet Photographer: Peanut+Butter

I was happy to have another wonderful client reunion with yet another CSP original couple (one of the first three!) on Monday. And while we had craaazy weather with the epic evening storm was that brewing, overcast skies and cows-flying-through-the-air wind, the doggies and us made the best of it!

Peanut is a Maltese/Poodle mix and enjoys chasing and biting his little sister, dragging around his toy duck, and treats. He cracks me up because he reminds me exactly of a stuffed dog I used to have when I was little. Butter is a Yorkie/Poodle mix that enjoys running, jumping, and running. Peanut was Erika and Dustin’s first dog, given to Erika on Valentine’s Day. Butter came a while later and was named to go along with Peanut… but Peanut ended up being much larger… and now they enjoy snickering behind their photographer’s back when she confuses their names a lot. ;)

These two were great, energetic little pups who enjoyed having the run of the park on this crazy windy day!

raleigh portrait photographer: renee, daniel, and khia.

enter renee, daniel, and khia! and yes, this is the renee and daniel from july. :) i was so excited to see them again and even more excited to photograph their new puppy, khia. i am a cat person as i’ve never owned dogs and suspect i’d be far too lazy to ever have one, but khia made me want a puppy. like, now. specifically, a puppy just like khia. i can gauge how adorable i think an animal is by how badly my face hurts afterward due to clenching my jaw when i speak to them because i’m overcome with cuteness. and my jaw hurt pretty badly after this session. :) SOOO RIDICULOUSLY CUTE. and she didn’t bark once. how amazing is she!? pet portraits are so fun.

there’s a puppy in there somewhere. :) she was awesome at listening! we told her to stay and walked really far with her treats and she stayed, just chilling in the barn. most kids wouldn’t do that!

i feel like i need a big canvas of the below two shots in my house somewhere. and when someone asks me if that’s my dog, i will say no. and they’ll look at me funny, but i won’t care.
