Sometimes photographers book that perfect client: the one who repeatedly tells you, “Oh it’s cool. Do whatever you want. We trust you completely.” They don’t panic and ask you a few times whether or not it’s going to work or whether or not they look silly, they just come and have fun. And believe it or not, that gives us photographers a ton more confidence to be awesome (sometimes I think clients forget that we’re nervous too). And then you get engagement sessions like this.

Tracy and Colin are the best and we’ve only known them a few months. But their wedding is at CAM next year and Randy Bennett is the DJ and Tracy likes all the embarrassing emo/punk bands that I do (names omitted to protect the innocent) and Colin’s super friendly and nice to everyone so I’m pretty sure it’s going to rule. Plus they’re pretty good looking, don’t you think?

We were lucky enough to meet Christina+Steven through Brandy+Andrew (recognize the church? Recognize the exact same picture of Andrew and his dad crying, only this time Christina’s in it instead of Andrew, and the picture is inverted?) and we couldn’t have been happier to have our paths crossed with theirs (and of COURSE to work with Pat and Geoff, the amazing parents of Christina, Andrew, and Becca… who put up with us again the second time around… thanks guys!). :)

Christina and Steven are pretty amazingly goofy. The type of goofy that you don’t see in couples as much as you should. They are silly and make funny faces at you and know all about sharks and play a card game called Munchkin that Geoff and I really love that is super goofy. They’re just fun. And their wedding was equally fun. But add cats into the mix. Really cute cats. Well, one cat more than the other, and a really cute dog. They separated their cat/dog siblings to take to their different places of getting ready so they could be included in the pictures. Leo the cat was cool with most of it, but decided to leave the room once the dress was being put on in a way that very much said, “Woah, this is a situation for ladies, not Leo the cat.”

We had a super great time at this wedding and were so happy to work with these two and their whole happy clan in Pittsburgh yet again. Hope you’re having a stellar time in Hawaii, guys! By the looks of it via Facebook, you ran into an unfortunate sea urchin incident, but seem to have recovered nicely. ;)

So when we booked client Jeff we thought it would be confusing until we realized that I could just refer to my Geoff as “Geoff with a beard.” Then we found out that Jeff also had a beard. So there were two bearded Geoffs/Jeffs. Then we decided we could refer to them by Geoff with a “G” and Jeff with a “J” but on the actual day of, this pretty much went out the window and we resorted to just having both of them respond whenever I said “Geoff!/Jeff!” and reacting based on process of elimination to whether or not I was having them pose or move out of the way/get me a glass of water.

I didn’t meet Jeff or Karen until the rehearsal, and Geoff didn’t meet either one of them til their wedding, but it was like INSTANT BEST FRIENDS (they either feel the same way or are totally freaked out that I just wrote that). Karen spent a majority of her middle school years seeing the same embarrassing ska bands that I did and has since moved on to stalking Pearl Jam (me tooooo!). Jeff likes bowling and baseball and has a beard and those are the only three requirements that Geoff bases his friendships on, so they were set. They live in D.C. which disappoints us a lot or else we’d be inviting ourselves over to their place a lot but we’ll have to settle for the occasional Facebook, “Hey, what’s up?” and remember how much this wedding totally ruled.
