Promo // Gilded Bridal.

I am so, so, so thrilled to have done our third promo shoot for the fabulous Gilded Bridal! For those who missed parts one and two, Gilded Bridal is a boutique bridal shop in downtown Raleigh run by our very own former engagement and wedding client Susan Langford! She offers dresses from independent designers, and they’re badass. And I’m not just saying that because I love her. If her shop was around when I was married, my dress would’ve been a whole different ballgame.

Susan cares deeply about her brides and also her awesome staff, so for Gilded’s Staff Appreciation Day, I came in to take headshots of the gorgeous Gilded girls as well as brides going through the process of picking out a gown and accessories. Then they all went to get manicures. It was a good day.

So if you’re in the market for a wedding gown in the Triangle area, check out Gilded Bridal in downtown Raleigh because Susan is awesome and I am so proud of the incredible business owner she’s become! And now we have a ton of women e-mailing us to tell us that they bought their dress from Gilded and it’s our current wedding clients buying wedding things from our former wedding clients and that makes us smile a lot because our clients are THE BEST! And it’s neat to see them come together.

Thanks to the amazing crew who helped us pull together this day! Hair/Makeup by Samantha Ray of Lula Hair + Makeup and Joanne Maye. And thank you to our amazing models and staff: Leah, Amy, Susan, Natalee, Lauren, and Heather! You put the sparkle in Gilded Bridal. :)

Senior portraits are something we don’t get the chance to do that often, but they are FUN. Especially when you get impressive seniors and they can teach you things like how you should engage your core while climbing on dangerous playground equipment in order to take their photographs, and how you should also probably stabilize your feet better. Karen came all the way to Sante Fe to have her senior pictures taken with us! Well, not really, but kind of? She came with her sister Anna to visit their Uncle Glenn and Aunt Kathy. And Aunt Kathy happens to be Kathy White Swope, who works with the always amazing Sally Oakley to form an unstoppable team of wedding planners here whom we love very much. So Aunt Kathy recommended us to do Karen’s senior portraits and Karen was on board and the dream was born. And by “dream” I mean a plan was hatched to have a place where Karen could hang upside down while I took her pictures.

Karen is in the circus (!!!) and also does fencing (!!!) and is generally impressive and fabulous. She can climb and hang upside down and has a lot of upper arm strength and obviously a stable core accompanied by good foot placement. She also has a great sense of humor (as does Anna, Kathy, and Glenn) and we all had a bit of fun running around Pullen Park in Raleigh (and later in Mordecai, where Kathy and Glenn were married). We also took pictures of Awesome Younger Sister Anna, who had no qualms about sitting in tree caves or trying to get her older sister attacked by ducks (as a younger sister who has an older sister who is also nervous around fowl of all types, I did find this humorous). And we also took pictures of Uncle Glenn and Aunt Kathy because of COURSE since they set this up and accompanied us and helped immensely. It was a good time. Sparklers were lit but not by Kathy because she deserves just one day off from lighting sparklers and she actually got to use them for once instead of trying to give a bunch of wedding guests directions and trying not to get caught on fire. It was a grand ole time. We were so lucky to be able to work with this whole crew, and we wish the best of luck to our outstanding senior Karen – Class of 2018!

They say that sometimes models have an attitude and nowhere can that possibly be more true than when your models have fur and their shooting location is at the vet. That being said, these little critters that you’re about to see did a fantastic job with minimal whimpering or sad looks (just a few). And the whimpering was kind of adorably ridiculous because all we did was pet them and put them on a table. One of the dogs had to take a bath (have mercy) and the other had to get his paw wrapped in a bandage (the horror!) but all received multiple treats and pets and “who’s a good boy” and so they recovered quickly. The MVP of the entire show was a cat named Stinky who likes to lay on her back and was placed on the CT scan table with no struggle whatsoever in the strangest showing of cat-calmness at the vet that I’ve ever witnessed.

And maybe that’s because these animals are all calm and wonderful. Or maybe it’s because they were at All 4 Paws Animal Hospital knowing that Dr. Hilarie Jerauld and Dr. Emily Dorsett are totally awesome ladies who love what they do and all of their little furry clients. We had the pleasure of working with them back in 2011 and were so excited to give them updated website pictures of their new office and little friends. It’s wonderful to see clients’ businesses growing and succeeding, especially when they’re taking such good care of the local critters. :) Their clients absolutely love them, so if you’re in Apex and looking for a vet, look no further. So happy to work with these folks again!
